To get the best possible results with accountability coaching, I’ve found there’s a sweet spot to the number of goals you should pursue.

What works best, in my opinion, is to work on no more than one to three goals at any one time.

And it’s usually best to have one main goal (your most important goal).

The reason for this is to avoid overwhelming yourself and so that you can achieve better results with your goals.

Accountability coaching helps you focus on the right amount of goals.

Goals Take Time to Accomplish

Most goals take time and discipline to accomplish and if you try to bite off more than you can chew, you increase the odds of falling short.

And having more than one main goal can also dilute your focus.

One of the keys to success is the ability to focus on one task or goal at a time and see it through to the very end.

Then you can select the next goal from your prioritized list of goals.

The Perfect Mix of Professional and Personal Goals

One of the differences between accountability coaching and other types of coaching, is that you can have a mix of professional and personal goals.

This is actually recommended, because your personal life directly affects your professional performance.

And so, I usually encourage my clients to have both.

Examples of Professional Goals

Some examples of professional goals could be:

  • Build or grow a business
  • Finish an educational program
  • Complete a work project

Examples of Personal Goals

Some examples of personal goals:

  • Lose 10 pounds
  • Start an exercise program
  • Follow a morning routine (set a wake time, meditate, journalling, etc…)

And, if needed, we can add support habits and success routines as part of our coaching work, such as productivity hacks or morning and evening routines.

A Note on Goals

If you’re currently thinking about your goals and getting ready to start tackling them, I recommend you make sure you have clear goals before you begin.

It can make a huge difference in whether you succeed or not.
