What is your greatest resource?
It's not money.
And it's not energy.
You can always make more money.
And if you live a healthy lifestyle, you'll have energy too.
Your greatest resource is your time.
It's the one thing you can never get back. When it's gone, it's gone.
So you better protect it.
One way to protect your time is to determine how much it's worth in cold hard dollars.
The idea is to shock yourself into valuing it properly.
Because if you don't value it, you can't expect anyone else to either.
And you must protect your time so that it will bring you closer to your goals.
Take a moment and write down how much money you want to make this year.
Whatever that goal is, just write it down. Let's use $250,000 as an example.
Now, let's estimate you'll work about 220 days of the year.
Depends on how hard you're hustling, of course.
Next, multiply that number (220) by the number of hours you work each day on average. Let's say 8 hours a day for a total of 1,760 hours for the year.
Now divide your financial goal ($250,000) by your hourly total (1,760) and you'll have a dollars-per-hour figure that you can pin to your time.
In this example, your time would be worth $142 per hour, while working towards your potential $250,000 per year.
Even if you're not currently earning that yearly income, this exercise helps you to see the potential value of your time.
Now, whenever you are about to dive down a YouTube rabbit hole or watch a movie, you can ask yourself, "Is this worth $142?"
It might be.
But at least you'll stop and consider before you do anything.
You'll behave with your eyes open.
Because you can't just give your time away.
Not if you want to reach your goals, that is.
