Planning on taking the leap?

If you’re reading this, I can only assume you’re inspired to become an online entrepreneur or digital nomad.

You want to be your own boss and I don’t blame you.

The ability to choose your own hours and travel the world while working in your underwear is rather liberating indeed. I am currently fully-clothed however.

You get to decide

When you’re working for yourself and pursuing your own path to financial freedom, you’ll tap into a powerful source of motivation.

Because the more you put in, the more successful you can become.

But it’s not for everyone and that’s because it’s not easy.

Do the Due Diligence

You’re doing the intelligent thing by researching the information you’ll need to succeed.

That’s an important step.

And I’ll tell you, educating yourself is a continuous process if you want to keep growing.

Which leads me to the crux of this article.

While there are a number of attributes and skills you’ll need to be a successful online entrepreneur or digital nomad, above all, the number one thing you need is perseverance.

Keep moving forward

Perseverance:  The continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, opposition or delay in achieving success.

This is the simple and straight truth.  No BS.  There will be all of the above to overcome.

Still interested in working online?

Good.

It’s like Navy SEAL training.  Only the fit shall survive.

The rest will ring the bell and pursue something else.

Choose reality

Now, there’s no doubt you’ll need the technical skills for your chosen market.

But without the ability to persevere in the face of difficulty, your technical skills will be useless and your dream will likely remain as such…

A dream.

You’ve got to be a risk-taker

When you’re starting out, it’s likely you’ll have to put in an effort without receiving any immediate reward.

You won’t know for how long you have to keep it up, and there’s actually no guarantee of any return at all.

It’s a big step into the unknown.

Add to that, fierce competition, and the reality that things always take longer to get done than you think they will.

This article is a test

Phew, still reading?

Well that’s a good sign that you do indeed possess perseverance.

And I’m not trying to scare you, I’m trying to prepare you.

I’m telling you all of this so you can be ready for the ups and downs ahead.

Losing any illusions you might have will encourage you to start building the kind of mindset you’ll need to rise above the masses that never make it past those first hurdles.

Keep your eyes open

You see, I don’t want you to be surprised when challenges strike.  Because they will.

And I want you to be immune to the promises that sound too good to be true.  Because they are.

This way you won’t fall prey to the get-rich-quick, cut-the-corners schemes that abound out there.

Taking action

So, how to know if you have perseverance?

Well, like I said, if you’re still reading and you’re not daunted by the challenges described, then you have a good dose of the needed juice.

But you can also build up this quality like a muscle.

And you do it by training your mind.

Perceiving failure

Having a positive mindset in the face of “failures” is vital.

And the way to do this is to tell yourself that “failure” is only a matter of perspective.

There’s no such thing as an overnight success, and so you have to look at any supposed setbacks as “learning experiences”.

You actually learn more by these “failures” than in any other way.

More precious than…anything else.

It’s also highly recommended that you have a system for productivity in place to keep your energy and motivation high during your startup phase and beyond.

Time is the precious commodity.

The more efficiently you spend it, the quicker you will succeed.

Become a productivity master

That’s what inspired me to put together a productivity guide.
